Hidden & Dangerous 2 Interview
- Interview by Ojokoltsa with Tomas Pluharik AKA "Sep", lead game designer of H&D2 from Illusion Softworks.
[Ojokoltsa] What size will the maps in H&D2 be? Like in Fight For Freedom or the great maps toward the end of H&D1?
[Sep] Missions of Hidden and Dangerous 2 are somewhere between HD 1 and FFF. What differs is the structure. Missions are more complex and allows the player more stealth or "clever" (using enemy uniforms etc.) actions.
[Ojokoltsa] Will there be a mission like the mission at the end of the Germany Campaign again, the mission where you had to defend your position against the two tanks and all the incoming Germans? Will there be a mission like the mission on the battleship again? (the later was for me personally the best mission in H&D!)
[Sep] Yes there will be some of these missions but in more interactive coat. It means that we do not like too much carnage gaming in Hidden and Dangerous so if there will be assault (plenty of assault missions in HD2) mission, you have to do something more than kill 'em all (like it was in first mission of FFF).
[Ojokoltsa] Will there be a dynamic campaign?
[Sep] Nothing of this but due to more single player styles and possibility to choose more solutions of the problem I am not afraid of the replay ability.
[Ojokoltsa] What are the differences between the Insanity2 and LS3D graphic engines? Why did you change to the LS3D engine?
[Sep] Power and reliability. (Huh it sounds like from some sort of army magazine:))
[Ojokoltsa] Can you say anything about the campaigns at all? Where over the world can we expect to fight?
[Sep] The campaign (Gary Bristol story) will take to these theaters of war: Arctic areas, Africa, Norway, Burma, England, Alps, London, Normandy, Czech (Sumava). Every mission is totally different with different objectives and different environment.
